Cutting Time

I’ve reached the scary bit. I have a central panel. I (finally) have 4 strips of foundation pieced triangles for my sawtooth border.  My strips will be trimmed to 15.5 x 1.5 inches. My central panel will be trimmed to 15.5 inches square. I’ve stopped myself from writing “needs to be trimmed” since I need all the encouragement I can get, so I’m telling myself it *will* be done!

Here’s where I am today. I finished the final 2.5 strips today, redid a couple of the triangles here and there, and think I can *just* squeak by with an almost 1/4 inch seam all the way along.

All 4 strips!

The central panel

With just a little imagination, you can see how it’s going to turn out!

There has been a lot more sewing, but the photos are all over the place. I will get them all together eventuallyt, but for the moment, I will leave you with a link to Nico in his birthday jammas.

  1. Oh wow – nearly there…. You’ve managed the triangles. Brilliant. And yes, I think there is more applique in you and as such a star pupil you can be the one that gets a pattern before publication…..

  2. It’s beautiful! I’m a big admirer of quilting and hope in a few years to take it up, but can’t imagine doing something at this skill level. Go you!

    • It’s all down to the teacher! I hadn’t really done any hand sewing except the odd hem before October when we started with Debby. You should join us next term!

  3. This is going to be really lovely!
